Riverfolk had several fun events during its first year. We hope to repeat them every year! Here are a few highlights:
Thanksgiving Community Feast at the Armory
Our second biggest event of the year is the annual Riverfolk Thanksgiving Feast at the Astoria Armory. Dozens of local neighbors volunteering their time on such a big family holiday is heartwarming and important – not only for the recipients, for those who have the privilege to serve!
Gifts That Make a Difference
We took part in last year’s charity event at the Liberty Theater along with 30 other local organizations. Great food and a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and get the word out about Riverfolk, as well as learning all about others doing great work in our community.
Haircuts for the Homeless
Twice a year, our awesome friends at Hygge Hair Company open their chairs and their talents to give free haircuts to people who can’t afford such luxuries! Mary brings the cookies, and a good time is had by all!
Riverfolk Benefit Concert
We kicked off Riverfolk in 2016 with a fabulous benefit concert, featuring incredible Northwest performing songwriters and headlined by the Scott Docherty Band. It was a great success and so much fun, that we planned to do every year!
In 2017, we had the privilege to host Bob Malone (John Fogerty, Ringo Starr) along with Dan Weber, Alexa Wiley, and folk legend, Tom May. In 2018, we had some health issues that kept us from holding a benefit concert, but we’ll begin planning our 3rd Annual 2019 show very soon! Stay tuned!
